Hey guys! Long time re-lurker back! In the midst of a new Harvest Moon game for the DS I decided to take a break and take a look back in the series.
Anyway do ya have any recommendations on what "old" game to play? The oldest I played was Wonderful life for gamecube... `Fanks |

definitely without a doubt harvest moon 64 for the Nintendo 64.
Even though my username says BTN, 64 is better. BTN is more like a... second choice I would say. I guess back to nature has more of a challenge and possibly every aspect of that game may seem better then 64, but i think 64 is just a classic, and it was my first harvest moon to play. Ever. the whole trying to figure out the game with my old best friends, and having sleepovers, staying up til 4, trynna get married, upgrade house, do better than my friends thing was the only reason it was--to me--better than BTN. it had a much larger sentimental value than any other harvest moon game and it reminds me of a time when things were simple. plus the fact that it's rare and i haven't played it in years upon years upon years. if you think about the statistics, BTN's better. but if you think about the feeling a HM game would give you, I would think 64. thats why it's my favorite classic. the oldies are better than the newies anyways. if i was to put HM games in order, it would be: 64 - classic. BTN/B&G - amazing. FoMT/MFoMT - when i got this i literally couldn't put it down. AWL/SE/AnWL - i love the aspect of actually growing up and dying and stuff. but this game can be incredibly slow. MM - way different than other harvest moon, but more individual gameplay and is amusing. IoH - i do like really like this game, but the whole wonderful nonsense is annoying and things are way to expensive. and if you want to upgrade, you like have to buy Gannon's lumber cos there's like nothin' on the island. DS - i did fairly enjoy this game while i played it. i liked the bg's when you were talking to people, but the games a little tough and i think only a veteran of the series could muster if they're completely determined. STH - i just didn't find much interest. take note that when i played it i was young, but... eh. This post has been edited by ShadowBTN: Nov 5 2009, 11:10 PM -------------------- |

Personally, my favorite is a wonderful life. But may I suggest Harvest Moon 2 for the GBC? It's very old school and great!
Also try HM:FOMT and MFOMT ((both are for the GBA)). With AWL, you can link with FOMT to get really cool stuff for both games -------------------- [Bud Rodney's Profile]

HM:64 first and foremost. After that, and I know this isn't the common opinion, but Save the Homeland.

HM:64 first and foremost. After that, and I know this isn't the common opinion, but Save the Homeland. Save the Homeland? Why Jess? Why? Okay, so it was kind of funny watching the scene where Gwen punches Jack down on the ground and his face falls in a pile of dirt for letting the horse die, but other than that.. The game is just.. bleh. (And yes, I was bored enough to constantly skip days and not do any work at all just to see what would happen.) But I agree with HM:64 definitely. It was my first HM game and it's still by far the best in my opinion. -------------------- ![]() [RPG INFO] - Name: Chester Night - Age: 25 - Business: Mountain Carpenters ..Fast! Cheap! Sturdy! Save the Homeland IS an excellent game, BUT, I don't classify that game as Old School yet.
